Cybersecurity After School Program

What stops websites from getting hacked? How do you protect your information online? What is malware and how do you spot it? Join STEAM PEI after school at our cybersecurity program to learn all about internet security and the important role cybersecurity plays in our lives. Students will explore cybersecurity topics through fun, hands-on activities including MakeCode and micro:bits. No prior coding experience necessary.

CSI Science: behind the scene – PD Day Camp

Put your STEAM skills to work as crime scene investigators to help examine a crime scene, find and decode hidden messages, analyze fingerprints, and identify the suspect using your sketch artist skills. Join us for a full day of hands-on crime-solving science fun!

Storybook STEAM – Family Program

Let’s do it again! Storybook STEAM takes stories we love and turns them into STEAM activities and challenges that will require engineering, science, art, math and technology to solve. Parents will stay to play and engage with their children while learning about the importance of play in fostering foundational skills in children.
On Sundays from February 5 to April 23, 4PM TO 5PM, for FREE!
This program is for children ages 2.5 to 6 and their parents and is supported by the UPEI’s Faculty’s Literacy and Numeracy Outreach project.
TECH BYTES – SUMMER CAMP

Have an interest in technology and coding? Learn how to break codes, send coded messages, be a good digital citizen, build circuits, code robots, create online games and more at Tech Bytes Camp! Skills from this camp will prepare students for next level technology camps such as Game Makers.

STOP MOTION ANIMATION – SUMMER CAMP

Ready, Set, Action! Aspiring young film makers will practice stop motion animation using a variety of different mediums including, clay, toys, paper, and even humans. Students will develop a storyline, create characters and a set, pose and photograph their characters, add sound effects, edit their videos and share it with the world!

We often get questioned about the A in STEAM. We happen to think the A is vital and this camp explores why. What good is an engineering solution or technology without considering aesthetics and user interface? The beauty of geometry, especially in nature. The physics of color and sound. Symmetry in sculpture. Patterns and fractions in music. Using technology to enhance visual art and music. So many opportunities to explore the Art in STEM.

GAME MAKERS – SUMMER CAMP

Students will spend the week learning a variety of digital skills involving coding and game development including planning, storyboarding, testing/debugging, visual and audio creation, and coding. Students will work individually and in groups on game development and may choose from a variety of programming languages and platforms to suitably challenge themselves.
Suitable for students ages 10 – 14 who have had some previous coding experience. All equipment is provided, except students might like to bring their own headphones.

GIRLS IN DESIGN – SUMMER CAMP

Students identifying as female will spend the week exploring many applications of the design process including Fashion, Engineering, Software, Architecture, and Interior Design. We will do more than just draw our designs on paper or on the computer, we will also work in teams and build prototypes and models. Throw in some visits from women rocking it in the design world and we are going to have a lot of fun!

ENGINEERING THE FUTURE – SUMMER CAMP

Students will explore the different disciplines of engineering throughout this week long camp, while considering the importance of an engineer’s role in sustainable design and ensuring public safety.
They will work through the engineering design process, including creating a prototype and presenting it to parents at the end of the camp. This camp will be held at STEAM PEI’s Etl-kisite’tasik Makerspace where students can make use of 3D printers, laser cutters, and vinyl cutters for their prototypes.
Engineering for the Future Camp is suitable for ages 10-14.
